please can someone with a bit of legal know how help me out, i have recently picked up on a post about rust on a boot of there car, now ive had a bit on mine near the wiper not long after i picked up the car, well i rang my local dealer, swindon specialist cars, and they informed me it was only covered by a 3 year warrenty, so i had a temporary repair carried out by a local comanpy at my cost, unfortunatly the rust is coming back through, the thread on this site says it was covered by a 6 year warrenty of which my car is no longer covered by, where do i stand do i have a case, and help would be hugely appriciated,

I'd say no.

What you should have done is told them they were wrong and taken it in. I think the fact that it is now a) out of warranty and b) been repaired by a non-seat garage will give them all the grounds they need.....unless you have it in writing from them that the warranty is out after 3 years....

yeah thats what i worry about, rather not have to fork out but the whole reason behind getting it sorted was because i was informed that i was out of warrenty on this car,

finally got a reply what do you suggest i do now

In further response to your e-mail of 23rd December 2007.

I am sure that you would wish us to comment on the situation that has transpired however, although Swindon SEAT are franchisees of SEAT UK they are, in fact, an independently owned company. Whilst SEAT UK does of course set certain standards for our approved dealerships, they are still responsible for their own business.

I can advise you that your vehicle came with a 3 year paint warranty covering your vehicle against manufacturing defects. Additionally you have a 12 year anti-perforation warranty. The internal body section and panels of your vehicle are covered against rusting through from the inside. Naturally your vehicle must be cared for in compliance with the operating instructions. If you feel that there may be a manufacturing defect with your paintwork, I would recommend that you take your vehicle in to your nearest SEAT Approved Dealership, who will be able to inspect your vehicle.
