Decat and MOT?

I am looking at a LCR and a few of them have full systems which are decat systems. Will this not fail an MOT? Don't want to get a car that needs to have a new system fitted due to failing MOT.

Just have a word with your local MOT centre, if you approach it in the right way you should be able to come to an "arrangement"... i.e. crate of beers in the boot when you take you car in for a MOT.

Depends on the MOT station.

Technically, you don;t need a cat, as long as your car passes the emmisions test without it

I think there are new regulations coming in to play next year that means if your car is 06 or newer then it must have the CAT present (regardless of emissions) if it left the factory with one.

So on the MK1 you should be ok then lol. Pre 06 reg.

my ibiza 20vt had a full straight through system no cat no silencers and that passed a mot....god knows how.
