Is a mufflerectomy a better option

Probably will do eventually just looking for a cheaper option at moment

i did the muffler delete first just to break the extra sound and i love it get a greeat BOO! when letting off its realy addictive ...and imo it does help it run better

I've just cut the cat straight out and welded in a straight pipe. However I know friendly MOT guys so it's not an issue.

But best thing to do because if the new laws is remove the pipe and cut the cat open from the top, remove the internals and weld it up again.

No one will be the wiser.

Also I'm thinking if deleting the backbox as well (even have a length of pipe waiting)

However then there is nothing at all silencing as I don't have a cat either..... Will it sound ok or like a tractor?

And cat is the most restrictive part of an exhaust. Turbo spools up quicker and flows better. Well worth doing.

Stupid question about this but dose removing the cat make any difference to the mpg ?

Didn't really notice much difference on my Leon but on my 306hdi it made it worse on a standard map. However once it was mapped for it the economy was improved.

My Leon has never been that great on diesel to be honest, the injectors are old so is the sticky turbo.
On a long run doing 80-85mph I got 50mpg with the cat removed on standard map (with leaky boost pipes at the time)

Since it's been mapped it will do about 53mpg on the same trip to north wales where my folks live.

Ahh okay i got mine last weekend and drove back from sheffield to london and averaged 54/55 at 75mph didnt even cost me £20 to get home :)
