Delay in power 1st/2nd before turbo kicks in - normal ?

hi, have had my mk1 cupra (180) for just over a week and need some advise if at all possible.

- I sometimes have a delay in power (about 0.5 to 1 sec) in gears 1 or 2 before the turbo kicks in, is this normal?

- Going to remap but not sure how this will affect the insurance, also, does anyone know what the new mpg, 0-60 will be?

You need to ring your insurance company before you remap to see what it will cost, you may find they refuse to insure you for a remap depending upon your circumstances (age, etc.)

The delay in the turbo will really depend on what revs your doing when you floor it, the turbo is mapped to spool at certain revs I believe.

One other thing to note most remaps are pretty much undectable. Just heads up, I'm in no way suggesting you don't tell the insurance company.

to regards to the above answer doesnt the map come with a hidden code only the company who mapped it can see iirc

depends on the company, i believe revo do something along those lines but I've not heard of any of the others doing anything like that.

revo do it but most remaps are hard to find, most steallers haven't got a glue if you car is mapped or not.
