Design fail - front doors

Wondering, how many times did you cut / scratch your finger on the front door already??

I realized there is a very sharp end of the black window trim at front doors. Place where you put your hands while entering car and closing door.
It's not only myself who cut finger several times already within 6 months having a Cupra, it also happens to several my passengers using front passenger seat (and their door).

This is a real design fail, it never happens to me in ANY other cars over more than 20y driving, never heard about such topic.

Maybe it's just me, but had my Leon for 18 months now and no cut fingers at all, the grand kids are often in the front, as is the wife and they never have done this either.

No issues here either. I appreciate what you mean though as I went to look at the local Mercedes dealership a few weeks ago (my son wanted to browse) and a C43 sliced my finger just by opening the door. It was the black plastic window trim.

Could you maybe take the sharpness off with some wet n dry or speak to your local dealer about the issue and get the trims replaced?

The risk is basically when opening the door on the parking lot, keeping hand on the door edge in order to protect them to hit nearby vehicle and while sitting inside, moving hand "around" the edge of door. Location of this window trim is exactly where you will have your index finger and cut/scratch it on the first finger joint.
You can check the sharpness of this edge on purpose, I am really curious about your feedback.

I appreciate where you mean but what you planning to do about it?
I offered a couple of solutions, assuming that's what you're looking for?

There are a few sharp edges on the Arona door as well. Haven't cut myself but have felt them at times. Ateca on the other hand is better for that. It's going to be how they want the lines of the car to blend, open and closed. If you have fabricated chrome or whatever running there they keep it going and deliver a sharp edge . Bits of sharp plastic I reckon on the Arona. Find them getting in and out, not always but an ouch when you do. Skoda team delivered the Ateca build from the Seat design, Leon / Arona, Seat. Might have a bearing. Skoda might be more hot on these ergonomic things. Probably find Skoda cars built from Seat design with sharp edges or Skodas. Challenge.

Well, before I go to the dealer I would like to know, if your doors have the same issue, same sharp edge and the reason why I cut my finger is only cause I am awkward or if your doors are all fine and has no sharp edge I showed on the pic and therefore it's really a case for the dealer to solve it.

After the second time, I rounded the point down with a file.

No cuts & different VAG but have plucked many jumper sleeves on that section. Good plan with digging out the file (although im quite lazy so dremel it is lol)
