You can either get an egr delete kit which has a nipple for the boost pipe or you can put a hole in the black pipe that runs along the side of the engine and pokes out a little then put a nipple on it and seal it and connect gauge to that

I was thinking about doing this but I have the 1.8t petrol, can you not just put a t piece on the hose that goes into the top of the recirculating valve?

Petrols are easier for installing I think, and like you said Im sure you just tap into one of the vac lines with a T piece. However diesels dont have this option

From what I've gathered this is the best way to fit a boost gauge to the Ibiza

On a PD130 you always tap into the boost pipes this could be either any boost pipe (top hard one is the easiest) or EGR delete pipe which comes with a nipple to attach the vacuum line.

There's two types of boost gauges electronic and mechanical.

With a mechanical boost gauge the vacuum line will have to run the full distance meaning it will run from the gauge to where you've tapped into in the engine bay. Apparently these can be noisy and there's a chance the line can get nipped. Electronic gauges have a boost sensor, this means you run a short vacuum line from where you've tapped into to the sensor which is a small box this then send the info back to the gauge.

The best way I've heard of feeding the cable/vacuum line is;

- Run the cable/vacuum line along the scuttle panel to the passenger side top mount.

- In the corner of where the top mount is you will see a black grommet pull this out.

- Remove the rubber seal on the scuttle panel and lift the passenger side corner you'll see another grommet this leads you into behind the glove box.

- Open the glovebox and remove the top section IIRC there are 2 at the back 2 at the top and 2 on either side with rubber mounts give it a tug (can't remember exactly how it came out).

- You will now see lots of padding, stick your hand around the back and you will feel the hole leading into the engine bay.

You've now got lots of choice's as you can mount them in the spare tray under the CD player, vents and pillar mounts. You can either run the power off the CD player which is probably best if your mounting them in the center console or use the light switch if your mounting it on that side.

I haven't done this myself just been looking into it as am going to in the future. I've checked the routing out and it's defiantly possible

So hopefully I've just saved you hours of researching lol

Haha thanks stuie. That guides going to help a lot of people, but that's the way I run my sub cables and tbh it's a 2gauge cable so it takes up that whole hole area lol.

One thing I didn't know is that the electronic ones were wireless so to speak! Thanks for that info mate and there's also a way of stopping the whirring coming from the mechanical ones by fitting something on the vac line (I.e chopping it and fitting a joiner in or something like that).

Going in through the scuttle panel is a major ball ache, there is a grommet in the passenger footwell near the centre consol and goes through the firewall, by far the easiest route through. I'll upload a picture when I get a chance

Hopefully I've spent hours trying to get my head around it lol. I thought the joiner was more of a filter to stop oil etc. feading back to the gauge/sensor.

Theres another root you can take which leads you to the passenger foot well. If you look at the back of the engine bay you notice a cable coming out the firewall.

To get to this remove the bottom of the glove box which i think is 3 screws at the top and 2 at the back. The grommet the cable runs through is pretty big to you could easy drill another hole in it.

Aha just replied with that one, Don't see how it would be a ball ache but I would say the scuttle panel is a tidier option as you cant see the cables in the footwell. My mates uses that route.

Forgot to add a guy at my work has a laser cutter, so when I come to fit mine am getting him to cut some vent reducers. He can cut wood and plastics so I can get pretty much every colour.

So once I get mine sorted I'll sort out some prices with him if people would like some.
