As per the title - anyone had an MOT on a diesel that has had a DPF delete ?

What were the soot numbers like without the DPF ?

Cars older than September 1979 have a visible smoke test only
Cars older than July 2008 have a limit of 3.0
Cars after july 2008 have a limit of 1.5

P.Torque were saying that after a DPF delete and remap they had the 2.0CR motor showing 0.71

Someone will correct me if I'm wrong but I thought under the new rules it would fail the visual inspection because it has no DPF. Don't know the wording off the top of my head but it basically says if it comes from the factory with a CAT/DPF and it is no longer in place come MOT time it will fail on a visual inspection due to lack of emissions equipment.

Best route would be to gut the DPF and get it put back on.

Correct - if the DPF / CAT have been obviously removed it will fail.

The better companies are gutting the DPF and re-installing the shell so it looks standard.

I'm tempted to have mine done for power, better economy and less hassle in the future but want to make sure it will go through an MOT ok.

Gold standard would be get a DPF off a scrapped one and gut that.
No point trashing over a grands worth of your car which you might want to put back in place at some point in the future, resale/starts getting difficult to pass an MOT with age, etc.

Completely agree with you there.

But a DPF from a 2.0CR TDi Ibiza ranks alongside chicken teeth and rocking horse sh*t in the second hand market.

I'm still nervous to be honest. Won't need MOT until next year but you never know.... Visual inspection may be taken a bit more seriously by some. I reckon a quick tap on the DPF will tell you whether it's hollow or not.

The DPF on the ibiza 2.0CR is tucked just below the turbo in between the engine and the bulkhead.

Very little room to see around it or start tapping it.

What sort of visible smoke do you see from yours now ? - much more than before the DPF was removed ?

Also wondering how they will manage to rev the engine for the MOT - mine will not pass 2500rpm when standing still - even with the pedal on the floor

Since i have removed my DPF by Ptorque i have had MOT and levels ware much lower than limit ...

And DPF do not need to be in place this law is not in place yet...

Alzak - nice to hear - is yours the 2.0CR TDi ?

Any chance you still have the MOT printout - what is the figure showing ?

Just spoke to my tuners (SEDOX) and he said that the car is WELL within the MOT limits. No worries at all. So that's cool.
THe map they make doesn't even kick in until boost, so it'll just run stock in neutral.

No is not unfortunately it is Pd but my result just prove that removing DPF will not affect your MOT results ...

It is Pd 2.0tdi 07 so CR engines are much more enviromentaly friendly even after remap...

MOT does not care about PD or CR - it is the age of the car.

I guess your car is registered before july 2008 ?

I know MOT do not care but PD engine from factory is way off CR engine due to design ... Do not matter if those engines have DPF or not
