Difference between 280 and 290

Looks like I have a 290 as in the first page of the service manual it shows CJXH, I know there is also a sticker on the engine towards the left side not far from the dipstick also so I'll double check that also.

Age, engine code and badge suggests 290 then.

I dont think it's uncommon for a V5 to be wrong. My 184fr had Sports Tourer on it and wasn't. My Cupra just says "Seat Leon Tsi".

I recently watched a video on YouTube on salvage rebuilds where they bought an RS 2000 (the later one) and it was registered incorrectly. From memory they found a contact at DVLA and had to prove what it was and could get it changed.
