can someone tell me how to change the digital km into mph.. i know its ilegal to not show both but i want the option to show both

Does it need to be activated thro vagcom and if so how please

You cant on the MFD.
You have to do it through Vagcom and you can enable a Big Speedo instead I have on mine. When you travel abroad you can easily change it back.

I think making the mfd do a big speedo is a different solution to changing it to display mph.

To do mph im pretty sure you have to set the country to somewhere thats native kph via vagcom. Dont quote me on that.

I think you are right Locky.
Put then I think the Main speedo will read in KPH... I think.

You can add the MPH in big numbers on the MFD im not sure how to do it as a friend did it for me.

I spent some time with VCDS trying different country settings on my 2010 FL car but I couldn't find any setting that switched the MFD display to MPH. I think it's because the UK speedo only shows MPH, and the MFD is therefore required to display KPH to keep the vehicle EU compliant.

I've not tried the big speedo idea though. I'll give that a try today if I get time.

Okay, I've had another look on VCDS. The following applies to my 2010 facelift FR, but I assume is the same for all FL cars.

I've tried all of the country codes and none of them turn the in-line KPH display to MPH, which is consistent with what I thought previously.

I have worked out how to turn on the larger MPH display in the MFD though, which is as follows:

1. Recode the instruments controller to Rest of World via VCDS.

2. In the settings on the MFD you'll see a new option to show the alternative speed display (the in-line KPH display). Turn this off.

3. This will reveal a new option in the MFD Data menu for the digital speed display. Turn this on and it will be added to the scrollable screens on the MFD.
