Hey all, recently purchased a 55 plate Leon FR+ 150 tdi and have noticed that when driving on dipped beam, its like having two candles in jam jars on the front of my car! Was wondering if any one else has had this problem, whether its a fault on the Leon or if my alignment / bulbs may be buggered!

Full beam works totally fine by the way!

Anyway, any advice would be appreciated, thanks.................

Thanks Tim, I thought it would be something like that! I have browsed some of the threads that you mentioned and your right about the dreaded HID debates, think i'll stay clear of those!

I got a set of these Xenon bulbs:

http://www.powerbulbs.com/product_detail.asp?prod=100

I took off a set of projector HID's when i refitted the original headlights to my car and find them more than adequate compared to the HID's

If you buy direct from them you get 2 pairs plus some free blue vision sidelight bulbs for £25. or you can get them on ebay for £12 delivered if you just want one set..

Powerbulbs also do the philips & osram xenons that everyone goes on about but they're £25 for 1 pair. i don't know how much better they are compared to the Power bulb own ones

osram nightbreakers are good too, although they have been known not to last very long

failing that, wash your lamps :p

Halfords are doing 2 for 1 on bulbs at the moment and do the Xenon 90% brighter bulbs... fitted them to my bike and cupra and make a huge difference :)

Osram Nightbreakers are ok as far as Halogen go, I have them in my full beam, but I have HID's in the Dipped Beam and it really shows the Halogen (even the nightbreaker 90% brighter ones!!!!!) up for how much less light they put out!

ive just ordered these CLICKY

I’ve just come from a 2002 punto and found the projector lights on that much better. Then again I find the extra 100bhp of the Leon better so its swings and roundabouts lol:D

Same here, don't the Nightbreakers look really yellow against the HID's :)

5k HIDs here and not looked back. They're a pure white light which I love, 6k gives that blue glow which screams 'aftermarket' to me. I played it safe, they look like they could be OEM and the police don't bother me. I also have the headlamp level set to '0' and have received no flashes from other motorists.
