dipping RPM at idle

hey guys

i noticed that when idling my RPM keeps dipping and rising ever so slightly around what i think is the 7000 rpm mark ? could be 8 ? does anyone else think the notches dont add up ... forgive me if this is a completely stupid thing to ask .....

I assume you mean 700 - 800 rpm?

Vag-com gives a high and low limit for the idle speed. (Just can't remember what the values are now!) Middle value is about 750rpm IIRC.

Mine does fluctuate a bit too, it also depends on whether you have the A/C on.

if it was idling at 7k i think i would have had a bit of a problem
