Hi.

Can anyone tell me if I need a tool to wind back the caliper on my Mk4 Formula Sport, or will a standard clamp push the piston back in to the caliper.

I have just purchased new pads and discs, but waiting for them to arrive, finally after about 6 weeks of driving on warpped discs. :D

Not sure if a "special" tool is required, but I know it does need pushing back.
What discs and pads have you gone for, and what was the damage?
Have you got the FS III calipers?

Went for EBC greenstuff pads and turbogrove discs, cost £304.00 all in (fronts and rears), and im doing the fitting.

Although the car is less then a year old the discs have warpped, and its out of warrenty. :( only warentied for 6 months or 6000 miles. not good.

Yes I have the FS III calipers.

when i did mine i just used a screw driver and a bit of brute force for the front ones, but the back ones needed a special corkscrew like tool (cant remember the name of it) which i got from halfords for a few quid.

for the rears ya need a caliper wind back tool to make life alot easyer any car shop will sell them.fronts just push in with a bit of pressure.

Great bit screwdriver pushs them back a treat! :D

You went for the discs/pads i recommended then? Should stand the car on end compared to standard!

£20 quid for the windback tool , but it can be done with pliers , id recommend the tool tho

Thanks will have a look for a tool once the parts are in.

Discs for mine - £121 for front pair.

And GREENSTUFF pads for the front discs are about £45. Add them together. £160 ish. Double it - back should be cheaper though because it is a lot smaller.

Comes to about £304 ish I'd imagine.

Go to Autosave in Bridgwater, cheaper than anywhere i found online and no delivery charge.:D
