Look at it this way ....

Diesel 04 Tdi Leon worth approx £5500 ... to get 225bhp + £2000

Petrol 04 Cupra R worth now approx £6000 already has 225bhp

You tell me what the best value is if you want 225bhp which can go to 260 odd with just a remap.

Cupra R! What do i win?

But i can still get 50-54 mpg if i try. Although i don't have a big turbo yet

How do you think a single mass flywheel makes it "easier for the engine so less is wasted" ?

sorry my wording was very poor. i mean to say if the SMF is lighter than a DMF the engine is wasting less trying to spin it. so revs faster. its not a power gain just a way of freeing up whats there.

I've had a reply from Carbonetic! :D

"Hi Ashley

Thank you for the enquiry and sorry for the delay.

As you can imagine this has sparked a lot of interest in the VAG community.

At this moment in time the clutch is being prototyped and tested.

They have already launched the Blade clutch for a few applications with great success.

I will keep you informed as soon as the clutch is available.

The Blade will be able to handle the torque you are quoting with the correct cover.

We have no intention of creating an uprated DMF but we will have a full range of SMF’s available.

Regards

David"

I've replied asking how long they think it'll be until they are on the shelf to buy! But i'm certainly interested! :D

You really made me think there. Maby I am best just maintaining my car then swapping when my mileage drops for a more desirable vehicle all together. Its hard though not to modify :D

I agree the Unclefester, but I have to admit that I'd like to at least reach the hybrid stage before moving away from the TDi - but not sure I could justify it [to the Mrs]. I just like the power delivery as it so usable day to day and love the fact that people behind you are amazed at how much grunt your rattly old diesel slug actually has!! I know its sad, but this is the sole reason why I have not debadged the rear of mine.

With an LCR I think they expect it to fly - whether mapped or not. That said, when we bought the VRS we opted for petrol, and now that we're getting rid of that we are looking at possibly an LCR as a 2nd car to the TDi.

When I bought the Leon (needed 5 doors and a deeper boot - kiddy number 1 arrived!) I switched from a 2001 facelift S3 210hp (with Revo, N75J, Samco hoses) and didn't regret it too much, especially once I'd added revo to the TDi. It had more mid range punch that the Audi even if ultimately not as quick.

Either way, you'll end up spending dosh on mods - we've all got the bug and know that these cars can be pushed so much more further than standard!! 2k spent on an LCR would buy a good lump of power and torque.

My mate just got a Hona prelude or what ever it's called 200bhp and it sounds awsome.

So i now also have the same dilema, i would fancy a petrol again or do i go the hybrid route which will cost me £2000-£2300 - or do i sell and buy a leon LCR? I can't keep cars for long lol

Hybrid it of course! Then you'll EAT the prelude!

I'm going to go hybrid, I dont care how much it'll cost. I just want a little sleeper that no one will expect! LCR's look more beefy and are expected to be quick! Derv's arent! That's why it's so much more fun when you beat Impreza's in your little Ibiza sports tractor! :D

Got another email from www.carbonetic today and they should have the clutch made for these in 6-8 weeks time! :)

There's no point me going for that as it'd probably cost a fortune and i'm never gonna get anywhere near that amount of torque!

oh agreed it's over kill, but stage 2 to 3 is only $50 or so. I think with the exchange today it works out at £700 before shipping.
