this is the car in question a seat leon cupra r in red i went today to view this car on the thought it was a very good car and after phoning them up to ask a few questions about the car i thought it sound really good. i travelled from Letchworth to Watford to see this car. i had a quick look around the car before going to see the seller. once i had a closer look on imspection the car didnt live up to what it had been potrayed on the advert both on ebay and autotrader.

1. the car has a crack on the passenger side bottom of the window this is not mention on the advert nor can You see it in the pictures.

2. the car tax runs out at the end of the month i know not a big thing for most people but should be mention in the advert but it wasnt.

3. the drivers side side skirt was half hanging off and i asked what had happened and he said it was done on a speed bump.

4. the brakes on this were awful and with brembos on the front these are not going to be cheap to replace, the back brakes also were just as but if not worse than the fronts the discs were very lippy all over the place.

5. the front spliter was cracked/ripped off and just the two ends bits left on.

6. there was three bald tyres on here and im not just taking 1.6mm i mean there were like racving slicks i said to him if i test drive this and get pulled over i will get three points per tyre and £60 pound fine for each tyre aswell

7. they only had a non keyfob(no buttons) as there key and asked if they had anymore and said no.

conclusion, i went to view this car thinking i would buy it but with all these things wrong with it it would of cost me loads extra to put them right. i asked the seller if he would hpi check it for me and he said it already has one but wouoldnt show me but asked me to pay for him to get it hpi cheacked. i also asked if he would come down on the price of the car and all he said to me was its an '05' reg car, bearing in mind he was not even looking at me he was just on his computer and on his phone while talking to me a little bit of common coutecy wouldnt of gone a miss. he also wouldnt get another key for the car and asked me to get one from seat dealer, having been to vw garage to get a key for mine i know these are not cheap atall.

Yes pictures speak a thousand words

First things that stood out were the smashed splitter and missing side skirt cover!

Saying that mine lost a sideskirt cover at the weekend :O!!
New one on order though :)

Put it on gumtree.

If it hasn't sold, maybe it's priced too high.
Or photos and advert is not appealing.

Thing is, with golfs they are quite common so it's a buyers market.

Should have asked when the tax ran out before hand, so that was easily avoided :p but I do hate it when sellers don't tell you stuff in eBay advert. That's why you should always try and view a car before as you did :) and if you can't view it before auction ending remember you're within your rights to walk away of a seller isn't honest in their listing

I saw this on eBay as soon as I saw a missing jack cover and splitter you could tell it was rough. I've also been looking at getting a LCr instead of carrying in trying to get my Ibiza tdi to 200 + .

Thats really bad mine really didnt have that much wrong and I got him down nearly £400, Some people are just thick when it comes to selling cars, I mean I thought it was common knowledge that you should be prepared to move on the price???
