Hmm, I was told by my driving instructor to press it in - but I don't - unless I'm doing handbrake turns, of course....

So, I spent 2 years working in a mcdonalds store (I'm free now though!) and worked on the drive thru alot. What I noticed was that about 80% of drivers simply pulled their handbrakes up without using the button!

You must have been soooo bored on the drive thru to have noticed that lol :funk:

And I push the button anyway

Random question, but how do you adjust it? The stupid bint who MOT'd my car yanked it up so high that it points at the headlining to park me on my drive now :(

I've had 6 company cars in the last 10 years and every one of them has done 100k miles plus

I never press the button in as I like to count the clicks, 3 for a flat road and 4 for a hill

I have never had a handbrake ratchet wear out on any of my cars, company or otherwise

the reason the driving instructors tell you to press the button in is so as not to make a clicking noise and upset the test examiner, I did my test in a mk1 astra 1.6 non turbo diesel and was told not to open any windows during the test for the same reason

the mk 1 astra D's soundtrack was a bit agricultural

I dont push on this car because my handbrake only needs to come up one click when normally parked, 2 clicks if I'm jacking up the side.

i use it,, just habit i dont think about it... the BMW's use the crapy button but its awsome will lock the rears up its got a speed thing so u cant do it when traveling so quickly .... just a pain when the electrics/hydraulics go tits :)

Very! An 8 hour shift serving car after car, you start to go a little insane..

But on the night time it was cool talking to people about their cars :) A bloke tried to sell me some chavvy lexus lights for the beeza once! No thanks. :D

To tighten it up, if you look on the handbrake plastic housing towards the rear of the car is a little compartment. pull this up and it pops up revealing some nuts and bolts, etc. I didn't do it myself, but I'm guessing you tighten these? Testing turning the wheel with the handbrake on and off as you go? Sure someone can fill us in on this :)

I thought this would be some sort of homage to the Chemical Brothers.... alas when I opened it up.. handbrakes! Ha Ha!

I always push the button in....

Yeah that's right.. I'm CRAZY!
