I picked up my ibiza cupra today and it comes with the portable system, but I can't get it to do anything? It says in white writing on the screen 'turn on the ignition' when I do this nothing happens. Any help would be appreciated

the clips can be a little fiddly make sure its pressed in 100%.

although it should turn on without the being plugged into the car.. at least mine does.

Yeah when I plug it all in and push the button it says turn on ignition but nothing happens, it's never actually switched on, it doesn't seem to turn on off the car either?

It sounds like either the car hasn't been configured correctly to accept it (unlikely i'd imagine), or the bracket which fits into the dashboard isn't clipped in correctly. It took the sales guy 10 minutes to get the bracket clipped in so that the portable system would link up to the car when I picked mine up (pretty annoying actually). Take the bracket off and try and reseat it, it should clip in flush with the socket! Push the back down first and then push down hard on the front corners until it clips. Often one side clips and the other doesn't which means the portable system isn't linked to the ECU of the car. Also, the ECU can take up to 8 minutes to pair with the portable system according to the technician I spoke to.

I've charged it up and it comes on now, I've linked my phone to it and stuff, it's still not working right, it's not registering on the rev counter and fluid temp function, and I tried to call someone but it didnt come through the speakers, any ideas?

This is exactly what was happening with mine when I picked it up from the dealers and it was due to the bracket not seating correctly in the dash. Have you tried removing the bracket and re-seating it yet? It's a real pain to clip in but should be obvious once it's in correctly.

Yeah , the radio was playing instead of the phone call, it's as if my car isn't linked to the sat nav , is this possible? I though this would just be plug and play haha

hi,

if you check the bracket, there should be 2 rubber pins underneath, try removing them.

the bracket will sit flush in the support

let me know if you can't find them, I'll post a photo with mine.

I had a good scare last week on our way to Dover going to a place in France we never been to and the sat nav unit was not working properly
