Hi all, was wondering if anyone could think of anything else I should do while I'm in the area. I'm looking at this timing chain kit and since I'm going to be paying for insurance on another car for a month and I'm going to be in the area, what else should I change? This car is from 2009 and everything that I haven't replaced seems to be in bad shape.

I read somewhere to change the engine mounts as well but unsure if that is worth the £80 or however much for each of them. Thanks for any ideas I will do more research into them anyway in the coming days.

I decided to do the oil pump, water pump, serpentine belt and a coolant refresh. Parts arrive tomorrow, all the tools are here, wish me luck lads.

Worst case scenario I blow up the engine and Rakhsh will be sitting here until I have a garage and money for an engine swap.

Good luck, hopefully not too hot while you're working on her

Strong aura for anyone who notices what's wrong here.

Hoping the dealership will know the part number because I can't find any part numbers for this engine.

I have also discovered this car is not supercharged at all, I thought it was twin charged but it isn't, it's just turbod. This explains why I could never find the supercharger. A little disappointed but this means I can build the engine and tune it without worrying about all that, that's a long way down the road though I definitely don't have the facilities to pull the engine.

Anyway I am pretty sure the oil leak will be fixed when I put the new gasket on, I think the leak was mainly near the alternator (I could be wrong, could have just been spillage from filling the engine at night) but who knows. I'll be dropping the oil pan too so that's also one more thing that will be new and not a worry.

Rant over until next time, I have a couple parts to order.

New update for anyone interested.

This one bolt took me 3 days to get out. It was the last one keeping the oil pan attached. I dropped the oil pan because it was full of timing chain guide shards:

I gave it a good clean and noticed there's a crack in it. This explains the minor oil leak the car has had for forever. the other oil leak, not sure - I still think it was the timing chain cover gasket near the alternator because that are was drenched in oil.

Right now I've got the new timing chain and parts on, the new oil pump is ready to go and I'm just going to be waiting on the new oil pan and this oil pump cover that broke when I took it off:

The end is in sight and I can't wait to drive it again, it's been such a long month and it was made so much worse by not being able to drive the mighty Rakhsh.

I'll still have to figure out where all the bolts go and hopefully not miss any hoses, but I have a video to reference so it shouldn't be too bad. I was going to renew the coolant in it too but realistically 95% of the coolant has drained out by now from all the hoses I disconnected and the water pump, I'll empty the radiator too. I'll probably get away with just filling it with new coolant, plus the old coolant didn't look too bad.

That's it for now, I'll be back soon if the dealer gives me a good price on an oil pan. If not it'll probably be a week.
