Changed my thermostat today and topped the coolant up too much so I siphoned it out an ended up with a mouthful! :wtf:

Don't taste very nice! Lol

Also when warm it was making a tapping sound I have read through a few threads and this is normal right?

kevinking2020, there is no drain pipe on the coolant system. The coolant operates under pressure when the engine is running and is a closed system. If there isn't enough expansion room in the bottle, then the pressure can get too high, lifting a safety valve in the cap and spraying coolant all over the engine compartment.

Fill to between the low and high marks when the engine is cold. The level should sit on the high mark when the engine is at operating temperature.

Seal LCR, what was making a tapping sound?

its highly poisonous and can do some horrible things to you. dont do it again

As above its a sealed system, (and why it releases pressure if you try to take top off when hot.
liquids do not compress, but do expand when heated up so there must be some air in the expansion tank so the air compresses as the coolant expands.
This is why its called an expansion tank!

In my experience if you fill near to the max line when cold, it will be a fair bit above max when hot, which isnt a problem.
Completely full when got or cold is a problem!
