hi there
had a small problem afew weeks back which pointed to the coil packs. lost turbo power and the car shuddered like its neck was being strangled. after looking on here found it could be the coils. had the car on vag com which came up no faults ( was told coils dont show fault code ) , if it was the maf would this of come up as a fault? also i never got a engine flicker light on the dash either????? everyone else seemed to have got one.
ive brought new coils ( which turn out to be the wrong ones) and spark plugs. as the coils were wrong i just fitted the plugs, and now the car doesnt seem to judder YET!. would this problem be solved by just changing the plugs and not the coils?
now for the confussing part-
i had a new engine fitted before i was a member here ( if i had been a member i wouldnt of made the mistake that i did )which i had to find myself. not knowing about engine codes i thought you just get a leon turbo engine and stick it in. it turned out i brought a app engine but mine was a auq. after alot of taking bits off auq and sticking it in and on the app i had a happy running leon . untill now!!!!!! coils didnt fit because the engine codes are different which got me thinking??? can the mixture of 2 different engine codes have a bad effect over time ? the insides must be different or its pointless having 2 engine codes .it may be a stupid question but im not wanting to spend out another £1200 all because i havent asked. havent asked seat as they are as good as a wet cabbage in anything that ive contacted them before,so im asking for your advice?
should i leave the car with just a plug change? is there a way off testing the old coils? or am i just worrying over nothing?

I never got the engine mgmt light on when i had coils go down, so your not alone. In fact, i didn't even get the light on when a fault code was generated for a MAF failure!!!!

I am impressed you managed to get as far as you did before someone spotted it was the wrong engine. Didi you fit it yourself? I take it you had revo installed after the engine swap?

You don't mention which internals are mixed. I am guessing from the above that you took the app unit as a whole and transplanted it, in which case, you should be fine.
If you swapped blocks and not heads, then you could be looking for trouble since some have variable valve timing and others don't. IF you answer these questions then i am sure someone more knowledgeable will give a definitive answer.

i didnt fit the engine. it went to a machanic who said you need a new engine, so i had to source and deliver one . it wasnt untill he droped it in the car that he found that (i think ) the wire lume\ecu didnt match the bottom part of the engine. so he then had to strip out what he could save out the old block inc the bottom half and swap it back with the wrong parts of the new one ( i think that all makes sence ). im sure he said the cams were swapped over aswell. only thing im not sure is what the turbo will be now. mine was a auq which is k03s, new engine and turbo is app -k03, but have read on the forum this is not completely true. the revo was fitted after the engine swap and seems to go well. not sure if this is true but was told if i take my air mass reading off vag com and add 60 ( dont know why this is ) it will give your bhp ,which came to 227. doent a auq map to 210 and app to 200? im confussed now. im running at amd on sunday so will find out ( fingers crossed ).

Possible that they just went by the model and it is a lucky guess. It is more the difference with the VVT rather than the turbo. My brother made an enquiry with BorgWarner regarding the K03. They state they never made a K03s, it is simply an impeller shaft with a few more fins. Might be worth checking out though, as if Revo have put the AUQ code on your engine, then it could be doing some damage.
