Door handle issue

Hello folks,

Does anybody know how i can fix my exterior door handle, it is in a semi-open position now.

It stuck ajar the other morning when we had hard frost and i tried to force it

Now the central locking is playing havoc and i am getting locked in the car every time!

It seems to be ok if i hold the handle flush whilst locking/unlocking...
INterior light etc all seem ok

Cheers

There is an allen bolt in the edge of the door about the same height as the handle. Undo it about half a dozen turns (it should tighten up again towards the end, don't force it). This should loosen the smaller portion of the door handle. Remove it. Behind there you should see a small tag at the end of a wire, that's what releases the lock. Normally it would be quite tight, but chances are you've done some damage to it. See what is there and see if there's anything obvious to fix.

Hi mate,

Yes there are 2 bolts level with the handle on the inside of the door, torx fitment? I will give that a try.

Just reading your post an had little concern about the two torx screws your on about. If its the big ones your on about they hold the locking mechanism in place. You don't want to undo them.

The one slimy is on about is under a small black cap directly behind the handle on the side you should see the cap if you open the door. Just pop that off and you will see the bolt. :D

I maybe getting the wrong end of the stick but thought i would say just incase

This is my door.

No need to take the door card off. It's the black cap on the far right just above the door latch.

Hope this helps

Ok well had a quick look last night before darkness and couldnt see anything obvious, the small tag on the end of the wire was still connected up but something is stopping the handle sitting flush.
Hard to see what so i may have to take the interior door card off to look from the other side unless anyone can suggest something??

Only other thing I can think of before you take the door card off is see if playing with different positions on the internal handle to see if that effects it?

So pull it like normal to release the door catch and hold it at that position then see if the outside handle does anything, will need the window open to try it.

Just think that the internal handle cable may have done something?

From what i could see the cable from the internal handle attaches to a different part than the outside handle attaches to.
Very annoying! A good car hampered by 2 annoying problems, very wet floors and dodgy locking lol

The inside and outside handles do work differently. If you pull the inside handle while the door is locked, it should unlock the door as a safety feature. Obviously you don't want the outside handle to do the same!
