Hi guys,

Ive had this problem for a couple of weeks now and it has completely baffled me. I went to fit a new stereo and when i was just about finished i was pushing the stereo in and i got a spark and that was it, the stereo died. I put the original back in but now when i start the car the stereo wont come on unless i manually turn it on and it doesn't switch off when i take the keys out. Also the doors don't unlock and the interior lights dont switch on when i take the keys out either.

Any ideas?

I have heard I have blown a fuse but which one?

Take off the fuse cover and look at the back it lists all the fuses and what they are for, also if you look at the fuse top you should be able to see which one's blown, well you can on mine.

sounds like a blown fuse. which one? look at them!

regarding the stereo not turning on/off with the ignition, this may be due to ignition live and permanent live being the wrong way around? - i presume the stereo taken out was not OEM fitment, and most have the wiring the other way around.
(or more than 1 fuse has gone)

The spark came from the wires from the back of the headunit, i havent changed anything to the original wiring so i can't see how it might have picked up a constant live which this is why it has baffled me a little. I had a look at most of the fuses that may be related to the problem but seems they are all ok.

Yeh i have checked all fuses and nothing seems to have blown. i might bring it back to Seat and have it done and not to tell them about what i did with the stereo but I know what they are like they will try anything not to fix the car unless i pay something
