DPF Removal 1.6CR TDi

Following the remap on our 1.6CR TDi Sport Ibiza due to EGR issues, I have been told that I do have to have the DPF filter physically removed from the car.

Has anyone had this done on their Ibiza? I have been told it is quite an involved job as you have to remove the subframe.

Can anyone share advice or experience?

Thanks

When I had mine removed they told me the same, that it's labour intensive but when he came to remove it, said it was a lot easier than expected as it was under the car and not directly on the down pipe. Mines a 2010 cayc engine

Thanks for the reply. Ours is also 2010 CAYC engine but I thought the DPF is situated right at the top of the downpipe straight after the exhaust manifold, in a square/oblong shaped canister? There is also a 'cat' underneath as I originally thought this was the DPF (which is very easy to get to). What it this what you had removed?

So did I, but DTM autos said it was an easy job to remove. Said on the polo and fabia it tends to be very labour intensive and that it's a subframe off job but said he managed to mine I half a day

Ok, how much did it cost you to have done? Did it make a difference to yours after being removed?

£350, that was dpf removed, egr blanked and re-map which added about 35bhp. Yeah felt instantly better, I now get close to 60mpg if I'm very delicate and is a lot less sluggish and picks up well. Had it done over a year now with no trouble

Good price - we had our remap paid for by the trader we bought the car from as within 2 weeks after purchase, came up with EGR issues.

The trader was only prepared to pay for the EGR to be mapped out so I paid £50 extra for a map to include more power and torque plus DPF delete. The guy I took it too was actually an auto electrician who didn't have the facilities to remove the DPF.

He said that if we give the car a good motorway run and use a fuel additive every other tank, DPF should not block and keep clear, however I have been told by other sources that I have to have the PF physically removed otherwise it will just block up.

DTM Tuning, Doncaster. Their not VAG Specialist but has good knowledge about the cars. The only quarrel I I have is the map seems generic. Driven another 1.6 with a remap and that feels a lot smoother, mines aggressively torquey

Isn't DPF removal an MOT fail?

Unless you've had it removed, the insides gutted, and the shell put back in so it looks like the DPF is still there?

Spoke to an MOT tester and ho confirmed it's a visual so had to look like the DPF is there. They have no way of testing soot content so can't verify it.
Sure the VAG bods could make them pass anyway.....
