Drive problems

Hi All,
Just got into my sport pd130 this morn and i have no drive in 1st or 2nd gears any ideas however it does pull off in third and reverse. Anyone got any ideas what it could be??

dunno how old/milage the car is but it could be a dodgy gear selector cable

its on an 03 and done about 50,000 i have looket under the bonet and got my mate my mate to engage the gears and the cable bit moves but between 1st and second it feels proper loose!!!!! it winding me up

i bet it would mate if you have only had it 2day take it back to the place u got it and ask them to sort it out specially if it was a seat dealer!

is this common? Is it anything to do with me? Will it be a costly fix?

need to get it on a ramp so take it to the dealers or a local garage for themto look into it

My car goes to the gearbox specalist todayas it wasnt teh gear linkage. Managed to drive it back from the garage in third up now its stuck in third and wont move could this month get any worse!!

Tbh mate I not sure yet depends on whats actually wrong with it its gonna seriousl eat into the money i had put aside for my remap and 312mm brakes!

I have just had a similar problem with my Ibiza (03 TDi Sport 61,000 miles) Earlier on had problems getting it in reverse and now back home had problems with reverse but now reverse works but no 1st and 2nd!!
Only had my car serviced last week!
Called the Seat garage and they reckoned it could be a linkage problem. Any ideas how much this sort of things costs as will be tempted to avoid the dealers!!!

i have a little prob with reverse dont always like going in the coming out well it likes to stay in reverse lets put tit like that..

Have managed to book my car in tomorrow morning, hopefully it will only be a linkage and nothing else.
With a dealer unforunatly as don't normally get my car looked at round London and there are lots of dodgy garages round here!!

As much as I like SEATs I won't be buying another unless I can change it before the warranty is out! Have had lots of problems since it went over 50,000 miles. Cost me £975 last July at its MOT and now this gearbox problem!

I have the same problem started yesterday - My car has only done 8000 miles! Will need to book it in at the dealers.

Any updates on your car ginge?

mine does it too it doesnt like to stand still, it would rather be doing 130 lol
