Drivers side window rattle

Hi folks,

Did a quick search but no joy.

A few weeks ago I noticed that my music was causing the drivers side window to rattle and it seems to be getting worse! Even when driving on a rough road the window seems to rattle. If I apply pressure to the window it stops (obviously)

I have to keep using the "palm technique" on the outer door handle also just to get my door open....

Wonder if these issues are related?

I'm guessing I need to take the door card off and see if anything is loose?

Any replies would be mucho mucho appreciated

I know that on mk4 golf, audi and the mk1 leon, the internal window mechanism is crap! Either the plastic clips break which is the cheap to fix option, or the entire mechanism goes! The rattling of your window could be related to one of these clips, does the window go up and down ok?

Yep. It goes up and down fine. Just seems loose somewhere and I think it's getting worse. I play music pretty loud with plenty of bass so that can't be helping.

Yeah its not going to do it any favors mate haha. Best things to get he door card off, it only takes 10 minutes, make sure you get all the screws out from under the door handles etc else you will snap something!

Hey Booya i have the same problem ... i'm pretty sure the powerful Pioneer speakers i installed on the doors are causing the problem ...took it to the dealer and they removed the door card and tightened everything and replaced it ... now it gone. Or so i though, 2 months later it back again much less noisy ... i think the internals are poor on the leon as the speakers seem to shake things loose.

Mine sounded like yours for about 8 months, then one day i hit a pot hole a little fast. Put the window down and it never came back up.

i get this too if i have my window down a few inches or so i get a horrible rattle. what do you have to replace to stop this? window goes up and down fine.

mine is exactly the same, been like it for months. its well annoying. keep meaning to wip door card off but never get round to it. when i do i will post findings

Yeah for the passenger front you need the drivers front (obviously)
