I've had my Ibiza (2003) for a few weeks now and I've noticed that there's a dull droning noise as I pick up speed, it's not like wind noise tho...
Any ideas?
My 2003 Ibiza does the same recently. i get to 60mph or so and I can hear a drone coming from the nearside rear. My mate sat in the back and reckons its tyre noise, where the tyre starts to make a different noise as it wears away. I'm not so sure though and reckon its the wheel bearing. Any other ideas would be great!
Most likely a wheel bearing, I had to replace the two on the left side of my 05 plate recently, and I only heard the drone between 30-60mph, nothing below and nothing above...
sounds like a wheel bearing to me, is the other tyre the same on the other side?! if it is and its not making a noise then wheel bearing, if not swop the rears around and see if the noise goes to the other side!
I had this noise for a while and I was sure it was a bearing, but I could`nt work out which side, had my 60K service done and they said both rear tyres were distorted, they had been on for nearly 40K and the tread was still good!
Anyway I jacked the back up and spun each wheel.. I could see what they meant, even though the tread was still good they were quite wobbly - so I replaced both and it cured it.
Ibizas are bad for road noise anyway but I never thought about the tyres because it sounded exactly like a worn bearing!
If its just one side then its probably a wheel bearing. N/S rear went on my Tdi sport while it was still under warranty.
My winter wheels have tyres on them which make wheel bearing sounds, they are truely awful, put the new wheels/tyres on and its as quiet as anything now!
