SEAT are going to update the firmware on my DSG next week to the more up to date version.

They are doing it free of charge so I can't complain.

What does it do exactly? I've read in various places that it stops the hesitation in the lower revs/gears? Any other noticeable change?

From what I've heard, it does that ^ and also adjusts the rev in which the car automatically changes gears as well as its ability to cope / get used to your foot pressure.

Hi Sast,

I was just wondering if this is a recall on your car? and what year is it?

I have a 2010 Leon FR with the DSG box.

Cheers,
Steve

Nah not a recall I just asked them for an update and they are picking my car up tomorrow and doing it free of charge. (2007 leon fr here)

can you ask them what number the firmware has?? i have 1403 on mine and was wondering if there is one newer than mine

I'll be sure to ask :)

it would affect if the remap is made on the dsg ecu, if only on engine you should be fine :).
@Sast keep us informed.

P.S. what year is your car?

Sorry I forgot to reply to this thread.

They took the car in but apparently it already had the updated software. They asked me where I was getting my information and pointed towards the "SeatCupra.net" sticker in the window, then said they DSG boxes are different in certain cars and some have newer software than others.

So nothing new to report i'm afraid.

How long have you had the car? When did it last go into the dealers (apart from this time) ?

Had the car for 6 months. haven't had it at the dealers since i bought it apart from the cambelt which they did last week. I'd have to check the logbook for the time before that.

I doubt they will have updated the software last week as it was the same person I spoke to, to have it checked...unless they had no idea?

Not sure about this firmware update business.

I've had my car since new in March 08, had mechatronics replaced due to jerky low speed etc. in 09 despite multiple adaptions + oil change and been fine since. This may be of interest if you've not seen it before, good info.

Short of it is that if you can't fix it with recalibration then you'll need a new mechatronics. I've learnt over the 4.5 years I've driven my car that as long as you do what it expects it's smooth as silk, creeps in traffic and sets off without so much as a slight lull. If I want to hoon, or do something a bit different, I put it in manual mode and take control, otherwise you'll just confuse the thing. The only time I manage to confuse it now is joining roundabouts when cars appear just as you were about to move off and you have to off/on the throttle.

Never really have much trouble at roundabouts, it's on the motorway when I get annoyed with it, cruising at 60 or so in the middle lane, see a gap in the outside lane so I gun it when the gap appears and it just gives a little groan on the revs & doesnt move very far then realises what it is I want to do and drops down 2 gears, then it flies off like a rocket. I can get around it by sticking it in S mode and then I have instant power, I don't think it's a fault I think it just gets confused what you are asking it to do.
