Hey peeps, noticing a knocking noise on the DSG when changing from first to second and second to third. Was just about noticable a couple of weeks ago but now you Defo hear it. It's as if the gear is banging in, hard to describe but doesn't sound healthy. More noticeable when slowly accelerating but last night foot to the floor my dad looked at me and asked what that noise was. I am going to take it into Seat as warranty runs out in October. Any clues as to why it might be? I got to sort it but doing 60 hour weeks at the moment and get married in 3 weeks so hope it is a straight fix and the box ain't knackered.

- Characteristic of the gearbox.

- Don't bother pursuing the issue - you won't get anywhere.

- Learn to live with it.

Something that might help you learn to live with it is to understand how the DSG gear box works. Trying googling it and looking up animations etc... You will understand where the noise is coming from.

also...
For someone who has posted 431 times you'd think he know how to use the search button. This has been covered about 3659 times, but i suppose we can let you off seen as your working a 60 hour week.

If you had noticed what he said...... Its a recent fault. It has not done this all its life. So if I was him I would also be concerned. I know the dsg can be noisy and that its been covered. But when the op says that its becoming more noticeable I would be straight down to SEAT rightly showing concern in my opinion.

haha :)

Just sayin...

And Adamb87, I did notice what he said, my knocking noises go louder and quieter depending on how much attention i am paying, temperature, how warmed up the car is, how fast I'm accelerating/slowing down.

I stand by my opinions on this matter/like to vent and make clear the frustration i went through finding out about this problem/characteristic.

If anything I'm doing you all a favour. be grateful :)
