The flywheel on my car (tdi 130) has broken and I was wondering if it is the same part as fitted to the golf gt tdi 130?

Secondly, does anyone know of a garage in the South East that would fit a clutch or flywheel cheaply (preferably seat/vw specialists)?

Or has anyone on here done it before who would like to make some money!? ;)

jbs will doit but they arent too close being in chesterfield but i travel from brighton to get my car done there! jabba are a bit closer

Yep they are the same. Any half decent garage should be able to change a flywheel for you really as it`s not a very hard job to do just takes time.

Does it bugger the car if the flywheel is broken? mine rattles a bit now :(

If the rattle disappears when the clutch is depressed then it is your flywheel rattling, sign of it getting weak.

As for it doing damage it, if it fails completely it will spit the springs and grease contained within it out into the bellhousing. The grease can sometimes contaminate the clutch, usually doesn't but has done in past. At work we've even had the springs manage to lock the engine as they've got wedged into the block. Had the springs punch holes into the gearbox casings, and hence require a new gearbox under warranty.
They can also spit the springs out and rattle their tits off.

If its noticed early then the damage can be avoided, but if like van drivers who come into work, who just keep driving them til they stop as their not their own vans, then the above damage can be done.
