My wife's Ibiza is a 60 reg one (Oct 2010) with a normal 3 button remote and a dumb spare key.
We now have to share the car - and I got the dumb key, so each time i open the car with it via the doorlock the alarm goes off if I do not put the key in the ignition etc.

Is there a safe way to buy another main key and have it programmed so that I do not appear to be a burglar everytime I go back to the car and put a parking ticket inthe window pls?

Markings on the main key are 7N5 837 202 Hella
Paperwork states: Spare key 12/02736

An auto locksmith should be able to upgrade the key from the dumb one (I like that description of it) to a 3 button remote.

One other long winded way to get what you want, is, find out the part number of the key with the buttons, look for one on ebay, buy it cheaply, buy a new key blade and then buy a new transponder - you will need a new transponder as it seems by all accounts that these transponders are not intended for reuse with a new coding.
Remember it is the carrier frequency that is important different ages of VW Group cars used slightly different carrier frequencies and/or cars sold in different markets (local rules on wireless frequency uses).
Even the VW/SEAT/Audi/Skoda small badge can be replaced if you end up with a key fob from another VW Group marque - if that is important.

Me, I got into ebay and bought a spare key fob for both my 2000 VW Passat 4Motion and 2002 VW Polo - just in case I ever needed to replace a key fob, I never did so I can't with actual experience say if or how tricky it is to get a key fob sorted out.
