Hi guys, I am looking at buying the Dynamat Extreme Door Kit which is around £65. Was wondering if anyone has tried this before or if they have used an alternative which is cheaper and just as effective? I have used loft insulation in certain areas of the car, but I want to take the sound proofing to another level lol!

I did the doors on my 2003 TDI Sport with Dynamat, there's a few pics here.

I suspect if you look really carefully you might see some smeared blood, it's very good at cutting skin !

Massive difference in panel vibration! You now get a thud instead of ding ding ding from the bodywork.

If you want to make the car quieter inside then this is not reallt the stuff to use. You want to get hold of a liner which absords airborn noise.

Dynamat or other brands add mass to large sheets of metal. I myself plan to fit a sub in the boot and hate panel vibration with a passion. Getting al these steps done now saves a lit of faffing about later down the line

sorry to be a PITA but what brands of liner stuff are good and where do you get it?

I'm saving up for some Second Skin Damplifier Pro. It's a lot better than the other stuff (including Dynamat). It weighs less because it doesn't use panel loading to stop the vibration like other brands.

Buy cheap stuff (or even roof flashing) and you'll need to use a lot more of it, and you still won't get the results you're looking for. You'll make your car so heavy.

Btw, some cheap Ebay stuff stinks! Your car will stink for ages :|

Just done a whole load of research on this stuff and it seems to be regarded as the best for reducing noise, but at £150 (have you seen cheaper anywhere else?), it's not cheap, but I think I will be getting some when I get paid next week. Cheers for your help!

I haven't no but I was recommended Silent Coat from a car audio forum, hence why I have the sound deadening sheets in my car. :)
