It's tested in 5th gear, because in 2nd of 3rd or 4th, they might be wheelspin with the snowtires. 1st run in 5th there was also wheelspin, but after the 2nd run the tires where warm enough to provide some traction.

Also, my torque is limited in 1st and 2nd gear by the JD Engineering software, to reduce the wheelspin.
 
I've had a couple of dyno runs and they've been in 5th. Would my figures be likely to go up or down if I used 4th?

I'm going to try 4th next time, I did not realise it made a differnce.
 
also down to how they calc rpms... and calibrate road to car.
some use a start speed, synch speed of car to speed of rollers, gets them their rpm point then... choose a different gear however and...... its different

I don't think it will make a differance. But for the best measurement, you have to test in 5th of 6th gear.
