Hi all
As above, has anyone ever had this fault flag up on their 1.8 or 2.0tsi? I've had the EML come on the dash but no lack of power. Plugged the car into a snap-on diagnostic computer and this fault was stored. Cleared it and the light stayed out for a few days but then re occurred. Was hoping it is just a faulty position sensor but looking into it on the net there seems to be a few early golf r and S3's with similar faults that turned out to be faulty inlet manifolds due to the Internal flaps sticking past the stops. Just wondering if anyone else has had any experience of it before I spend £340 on a new manifold? Apparently the new manifold is a new revised design as it was a weak point.

There are a number of threads stating that the earlier modifications were being replaced FOC even if out of warranty (but mainly US VW/Audi), and the symptoms were normally rough idle.

Also mentioned that there is an adaptation sequence when fitting the new manifold.

The car is almost 6 years old now (although it has only done 23,000 miles) would they really give warranty on it? Can't see it.

Just stumbled across a thread on here of someone having the same fault shortly after having a remap and turned out to be the position sensor so going to try that first

If UK based, the the Consumer Rights Act 2015 means that you have up to 6 years to make a claim, depending on product goods, regardless of the warranty. If the car is low mileage and full service history by the dealer, then you have a strong case. Even if it hasn’t been dealer serviced and you have bills to demonstrate that it’s been maintained in accordance with the manufacturers maintenance schedule then they may pay a % towards the cost.

I guess it all depends on what modification state the component originally fitted is - the letter at the end of the part number usually indicates the modification standard, starting at A. These usually change with each mod state - but this could just be a change of supplier rather than any physical changes to the item.

Looks like it was just the sensor, thankfully! Replaced it on Saturday and cleared the fault code. Car has been fine since
