Eagle f1 GSD3 question ???

this is a question to people with goodyear eagle f1 GSD3 tyres. I am just about to order a set of four of these tyres @ which i think is a fair price £91 each fitted and all in, for the standard 17" wheels. But there is some 1 in work said he wouldent touch them with a barge pole because he sais they are dangerous in the wet, he sais they throw the water up under the car. is he having me on ? i have red real good reviews on them on here. around where i live we have a lot of rain

Of 4 or 5 typres of tyres I tried (on 2 Leons) these were easily the best all rounder

Goodyear F1s are great in wet & dry, average for wear but not cheap. Think you'll find that it's Pirellis - & most road-legal track-day orientated tyres - that aren't much cop in wet.

Goodyear F1 is a classic example of YGWYPF.

F1's all around here and gives great confidence in the wet.

F1s on my LC. I drove to Le Mans last weekend for 5 hours in terrential rain without any loss of traction.

I have heard that Goodyear where discontinuing the F1s though and a cheaper version with the same name where a bit dodgy but I can't see how someone else can use the same name and logo with a poor quality product so if they are still available, buy while you can!!

They are very good tyres - But they are quite a soft compound - So they will wear out quicker....

Yep, been using GS-D3's all round for about 5 years, great tyres.

Next time I might save a bit of money and try some Falken 452's though as I've heard good things abou them too.

IMO Falkerns are not anywhere near the GSD3s. But then they are cheaper.

Note: the GSD3 are dissontinued so its stocks left only. (good year assymetical replace them and are getting even better reviews but do cost more)

Id also like to see a tyre that doesnt 'throw water up'. Drive behind anyone on a wet road and water is thrown up, the tyre is rotating at a speed and simple physics and surface friction mean that this will happen.

Perhaps hes getting confused with F1 cars in the rain throwing up lots of water. But then thats just indicating how much water they are shifting and the speed they are going.

So what does he suggest?

got gsd3's all round and rate them as the best tyres I've had along with p-zero's being the worst.

The goodyears are poo in snow though and dont like cold road surfaces to much but they are classed as summer tyres so hey-ho.

Not according to most tyre comparisons - they are a good dry weather tyre though.

To the OP: I've had four Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetrics on for 5000 miles and they are exceptional in the wet and dry.

Pros: grip, dry and wet performance, confort, noise
Cons: tramlining, dont look as fancy as GSD3s!

F1 GSD3s: great in the dry and the wet.

However, if there's even just a light dusting of snow around (highly unlikely at this time of year, granted!) don't even attempt to go anywhere.

Im running michellin pilot sport at minute and cant fault them,the fronts are just about worn out now but have done easily 10k,they are still gripping as good now as they did when new and have worn very evenly across tyre,i dont push it too hard when its wet but in the dry the cornering lateral grip they can cope with is unreal,i might try the new goodyear next to see how they perform,i doubt that there is much in the price between the 2 though.The pilot sports cost about £120 each but ive got good use out of them.

£10 if it was from direct experience, not from a friend of a friend of a friend...
