EBC brakes and Ferodo pads...

Are these discs and pads a good combination?

My front discs have rust or are slightly distorted and have a slight vibration when braking so will be changing the fronts soon...

Also would it be ok to change to EBC and the Fer pads whilst leaving the rears standard as they are fine?

Thats if you think that they are any good of course...

Or are there any other discs and pad combinations that people use that they can recommend?

I dont want to spend the earth but want something a little better than the standard ones...

Noone have experience with these brakes then? I have read the sticky thread about brakes (brembo etc) but don't really want a whole kit. Just looking for better front discs and pads than standard, would really appreciate any recomendations.

Ferrodo DS2500 pads are popular with guys on here, so i take it they are good.

As for discs, are you looking for grooved or plain like you have just now? Soo many combinations out there, its all about finding 1 you like.

I dont know mate, thats the problem... thats why i was asking if anyone had used them...

i would prefer better discs than standard so i am guessing grooved are better? if anyone point me in the right direction or give me some names of discs they are using that would be great...

thanks

ebc pads are ****, the discs are meant to be ok. If I was you I would stick with the standard discs and just uprate the pads and fluid instead mate.

ok cool. what about cupra discs and uprated pads? not a good idea with standard rear brakes? or a lot more expensive?

oh forgot you were driving an FR. The money that it would cost to do uprated pads, discs and fluid, would nearly be as much as just getting the full cupra front setup

The rears will cope mate, plenty of ed30 drivers have that setupd and are fine.

Get the cupra brakes ;)

Unless you go for the cupra set up I'd just use standard discs with DS2500 pads. I used the DS2500s on my old LCR with standard discs and it was awesome (although admittedly with Brembos!).

Hi Mate,

I had DS2500 pads and Ultimax EBC discs on my old LCR and they worked really well. No fade, no squeeking etc.

I got the grooved ones, with no holes in but i'm not sure that was an option.

They come black powder coated and onlt the area where the pad makes contact wears off to expose the metal, this left the rest of the disc nicely protected :)

I did a good 4000 miles on them.
