ECP light on occasions since remap

Hello, been reading into a few threads with similar problems but not found anything that sounds exactly like mine. Recently had my Leon FR 1.4 ACT TSI 150bhp remapped to about 180bhp (not got the exact number). Since having it done I've put my foot down on the motorway on 2 occasions and the ECP light has popped up and the car has gone into limp mode with low revs about 3500-4000max (really slow getting there). When the car then gets parked up and switched off and back on its back to normal? This isn't every time though I've had my foot down a good few times and it's had no problems which is strange.

Just wondering if anyone has had any similar problems when they've had theirs remapped or if this is a normal problem with something else?

Thanks

I had my polo GTI done a few years back by APR. It was overboosting. I don't know what the ramifications of this is, but I would guess that it doesn't do the turbo any good.

Yeah I've read a few threads that said it was cylinders misfiring or dirt on the spark plugs but no mention about their cars being remapped. Ive pushed the car harder before the remap with no problems so do think it's something to do with the remap. Don't really want to have it lowered down so anything I can get done to prevent it new parts etc I would rather invest in

Take it back to the mapper if it didn't do it before you had it done. Probably over boost and caused partial limp mode check for errors on vagcom my guess positive deviation over boost.

Thanks for that, sent him a text today he said he will get it plugged in and have a look. I'm not the best with certain parts of the car but is that something he can fix easily without changing the gains from the remap or will that require it to be lowered?

Hard to say, it could be timing, overboost, fuel cut, anything...
But for sure, it needs to get sorted and if you end up loosing few ponies it will be worth it as long as your engine works right.

This happened to my non remapped 1.4ACT it was caused by a sticky wastegate and eventually ended in a new turbo being fitted. I had random EPC lights with reduced power that reset after turning the car off and on again for a few months before...

First attempt at a fix was to lube the mechanism, then replace the actuator and finally replaced the turbo. Obviously yours maybe a software issue but it also may have just brought the above issie to the surface.

Thanks lads, and yeah if I have to lose a few bhp so be it I guess rather than paying out, should have the car on the machine to get looked at after the weekend. Did Seat charge you for that BlackFR or did they take the hit for that work? If it keeps happening after the map is reduced I might have to get it turned off all together and book it in to get looked at maybe the mad has brought a problem to light. Fingers crossed its something silly to do with the remap

It was covered by warranty as you would expect as the vehicle was only 18months old with 12k miles on the clock... No problems since it was replaced. Yours can't be 3 years old yet as the ACT engine has only been in the leon for around 2 years in the UK.

Be careful remapping a car still under warranty. Manufacturers could in theory refuse the warranty if the ecu has been altered.

Yeah I've read up on that, if the ECU is set back to default can they still tell it's been changed previously?
