hi my friend has got a seat leon cupra mk1 Y reg, on monday night he went through a puddle and after about 10 minutes the car cut out and hasnt started since. he has had the man that remapped his car out to see if there was any faults but the computer would not connect to the ecu. he thinks the ecu is broke but somebody else has told him it could be the fuse to the ecu. does anybody know where this fuse is located? or any other ideas what it could be?

Best bet would be is check the lives and earths to the engine ECU, if they are fine and there is no communication to the control unit but there is communication with other then yes the ECU could have failed.

It could be one of any number of fuses if it doesn't start, there must be at least half a dozen that need to be intact before the power gets to the right places for it to start. It could be the fuel pump got wet and blew a fuse, and there just happened to be ten minutes worth of fuel in the lines.

I'd go back to basics, and go through the fuse panes one by one, checking each fuse. It's not as bad as it sounds, it should only take ten minutes to check them all.

With the key at position 2, does he get the expected lights lit up on the dash? Does it turn over and not catch? Or not turn over at all?
