ECU swap question

I'm about to exchange my 05 FR TDi with REVO map for ane shape FR TDi - can I just swap the ECU's over as:

a). they are both the same BHP model and
b). I don't really want to pay another £500 for a remap and
c). I'm tight!!!!!

No you cant.

The immobiliser codes will differ, and the software version will differ.

There a lot of different codes, even for the same model/bhp version

If its anything like the mk3's then you can recode the ecu with vagcom.

This is true, but you have to allow for the software version that was originally on the ECU.

This is important to avoid any rough running and flat spots etc

Thanks for the reply. JKM in Portsmouth did the remap so maybe they will have the origianl codes perhaps - will ask them.

If you send me a email i may be able to help.

If you can give me the software number from your STANDARD ecu ,

And as long as the new/replacement ecu is the same ECU number as your origanal.

I can remap it with the correct software to match your STD and remove the IMMO so its plug and play

hope that makes sence

OR

Make the replacement work with vag-com ,THEN i can make it match your origanal software from your standard ECU and the immo will be as normal

Ps im guessing this is a EDC15 ecu from the PD engine???

The EDC16 is a bit different but doable

It can be done as I'm running a Revo'd de-transponded PD150 ECU in my 130PD vRS at the mo!
