Electric mirror adjustment switch

Recently joined the merry band of the Leon owners, I have just bought a 58 plate Leon 2.0 Sport....I just have a question about the electric mirrors if someone can tell me if this is correct.....when using the switch (left & right) to adjust the electric mirrors one side operates both mirrors at the same time, asked at the dealers and they said this was correct, it adjusts both at once then you go back and re-adjust the single one!
This just doesn't sound right at all to me, why have a left and right on the switch??!!
Is the dealer correct??!

Thankyou!

Dealer is correct, when set to RIGHT both mirrors adjust, when set to LEFT only that mirror is adjusted.

Hopefully someone smarter than me knows why?

is it not something to do with helping you when parking?

i know when i picked mine up i thought "oh ****, the mirrors are screwed " lol

You can turn this off with vagcom though mate (which i've done) and have them adjust seperate.

Thanks.....but a little new to this, could you tell me what vagcom is? Is it basically accessing the computer of the car?

The idea is simply for convenience - i.e. you "setup" the mirrors once so they are in the same positions relative to each other. Then when adjusting the mirrors in future e.g. having moved the drivers seat up/down, you only need to do one mirror and the other will adjust automatically.
