thats not a good start, it will be the window regulator, common fault im afraid.
If you can, take the door card off, and check the voltage with a multimeter and see if there is any voltage reaching the motor, could be a duff switch

its really easy to fix, i did it wit my rover. took me 30 mins to do
in fact i took it out, repaired the old one, and sold it after, aslong as the arm isnt broken its ok to repair. and u can get the actual arms for less i imagine, just look around!!

i have tried different ways swapping switches around and disconnecting them but it is just dead i have power going to the motor
are the window reggs bosch by any chance?

my passenger window has stopped working aswell so need to investigate. both switches to it don't work so I'm fearing the worst 
same as mine i have taken the passenger reg out and plugged it in the drivers side and still nothing so it looks like it is dead
