Hi folks,

I have noticed that after turning off the car & closing it, an electrical noise comes from the engine bay, it keeps going for a few sminutes, I think it is from the heat exchanger area.

Could be turbo cooling pump?

mine does the same on my tdi 140, just for 30 seconds of so, mate at the garage told me its nothing to worry about. hope this helps set ur mind at ease

For a few minutes then it's the items that are cooling your car off ie turbo totally normal. Will range in time depending on how fast you've been driving.

Also if you take your keys out the ignition you hear a high frequency electrial noise but that is for a few seconds.

Hi there,

That is what I thought but I'm not sure if the Cupra is capable to cool the turbo while engine is turned off.

Does anyone know if there is an auxiliary water pump for cooling turbo once engine has been turned off? I have been looking on the ETKA but no sucess so far.

If it is so, then we don't need to wait to cool down the turbo when we drive hard.

Thanks very much.

They have it on the older 1.8T cars (MK3, Mk4 Ibizas and MK1 Leons) so i would assume they have something similar

It does cool the turbo down afterwards... hence no need for turbo timers like some of the turbo jap cars

I would have thought its more than likely the throttle body, they normally whine the click for a few seconds after shut down.

IIRC they have an extra electric water pump to circulate the water round the system and help cool everything down after you switch off the engine. The turbo isn't water cooled so this doesn't cool the turbo directly but in a way it will cool the turbo indirectly by cooling the engine block that it attached to. Also the throttle body has a stepper motor in it to operate the throttle butterfly thingy and these make a high pitched noise very much like an HID ballast.

Hello,

Thanks very much for your support.

Today I finally have found diagram, it is reference 1K0 965 561G (auxiliary water pump). I'm going to sleep much better LOL

If I take it easy the last 5 minutes before arriving to the parking, then there is no sense making car idle as our little friend will keep cooling turbo, correct?

if its a high pitched noise its the throttle body aligning , its normal all cupras do it.
the high pitched noise should be followed by a couple of clicks thats it aligned.

I've had my new Cupra 3 weeks now and I have noticed that it also makes an electricity buzzing noise. It happens afetr I switch the engine off but then I turn the electrics back on again (without starting engine). Sounds like the sound effects from a 1960's Frankenstein film !!!

I've not spoken to my delear about it yet and it does sound a bit concerning but if your saying its just the water cooler then ok. Although why would it not make the noise when I 1st switch the engine off?
