engine choices 5 door

just looking at the engine choices which i think are a bit poor for a new car. all old hat. hopefully in the future we'll get a 5 door 1.4 tsi 140, or even better a smaller capacity tdi with about 140 bhp. the current old 1.9 105 is utter crap. fiat and hyundai have brought out nice 1.6 diesels.

I think vw is currently working on updating its engine range.

There is a new 1.6 cr tdi unit on the way but the 140bhp mark will be left to the newer 2litre cr tdi in future models.

I read today that a 1.2tsi engine is being worked on with 105ish bhp to replace the the so old its almost dead 1.6.


But yeah all those engines are rather old and rubbish, but will do the job they're needed for well enough.

thanks for the reply bob, yeh m8 i've had my cupra's and fr's and now currently 2.0 140 leon stylance which i feel is getting a bit dated. i have a young one (7) with another due in december so what im looking for is a 5 door with a bit of poke preferably diesel. do you think they will do an fr in 5 door?
