After replacing the coolant temp sensor over the weekend, my cupra now cuts out whilst driving, most notably when pulling upto a junction/roundabout. It also ocasionally flashes the battery light but it dispaears when slowing down. This has only started happening after replacng the temp sensor. Does anybody have any idea what could be going on? The engine also surges to 1500rpm then down to 500rpm when idling and will bounce up and down for a few senconds then settle up at 1000rpm. The Engine is code is AUQ in a 01 Cupra.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! :help:

Right ive had a look around the forum and i think the MAF must be the problem; but before i go and spend £70 on a new one, is it possible just to clean the existing one? Im not sure how to do this but i read it mentioned on another post, but it wasnt explained so can someone help me out with some info?

Cheers in advnce an for the last post :)

Before you blame the maf mate I think you should log it to find out what its really doing. If you don't have vag com stick a request in the vag come section for someone local to you to help you out.

Fault finding simply by symptoms is very inaccurate.

you could try disconnecting the maf to see if everything improves... usually means its goosed if it does, dont drive for long like this as youll run rich and could damage the cat.

but vagcom would be the ideal if you can get it

Just a thought, but since the last thing that was disturbed was the coolant temp sensor, have a look at the electrical connector and maybe give it a clean?
