well i had a collapsed hose (the shape of a mushroom with 3 entries) in my engine bay on the right hand side, the breather valve parts. iv got a new one and put it in, doing so i ended up tearing another hose that its connected to, to reveal white gunk sitting inside, and the smell of petrol too.

my theory is that its mixing oil with water somewhere but where? and the petrol smell is also bad...what could be up with it?

i need to order another hose, and the breather valve (the mad black housing thingy)

some pics of what im on about;

this is eating up my oil and its getting worrying. help please

This will be your PCV hoses that come from your block breather I think. Do you have pictures of where on your engine etc it goes. there are uprated ones on the go just now, I have just purchased one there very well built and will NEVER rip as there silicon

Its the pressure relieving system for your block. this can be gases leaking that have to go somewhere. this takes with them all kind of 'stuff' usually gunk and oil. Very common TBH and as said catch can is the only way to stop this going back into your induction system

Not something to worry about, no.
You can get one from various sources. What you need to work out first is do you want to remove the PCV stuff or leave it working as Seat designed it to. I originally thought I would change the design but my cars done 92,000 miles and never missed a beat so why change the set up now.
I have one with a filter at the top so the pressure is vented out the top and not back into the induction system like the OEM style.
I have now changed my mind about this set up and will change the PCV hoses to uprated ones and plumb in a catch can into the block and induction system.
INA, Demon Tweeks, Forge are some f the catch can suppliers

MMMMmmm
Topping up every two weeks is a bit concerning TBH.
Hows your exhaust fumes? oily?
How much oil do you need to top up in two weeks?
I would fit a catch can ASAP and keep a close eye on the levels to see how much you are loosing in the engine and how much you are gaining in the catch can. this might help diagnose a problem

well when starting the engine, there is a lot of smoke (more than normal), and when i rev it from cold,a lot of smoke comes out.i always thot it was normal...

just ordered a universal catch can offae ebay, going to take a look soon.

well its almost dry...top it up to half every 2 weeks...took it to a garage and they found no leaks, they say it could be internal...the joys of having a Seat eh

Im the same, I had a decent puff of a light blue smoke when starting, smells like a diesel if im honest, only lasts a second. Running rich? It did this with the standard air intake on, but with a 80mm pipe and green cotton, the smoke hasnt returned

As for the topping up of oil, i thought mine was alot as past cars havent burnt any. It doents use much but then again i try not to drive it during the week, as only drive short trips. My grandads brand new golf came with a litre of oil, is it a common VW thing?
