I bought my Leon Cupra with quite high miles (90K) and now I've added another 4k. She has been serviced regularly and I plan to change the oil often but does anyone know how many miles I can expect to get out of one of these engines? I've seen some Leons for sale with quite high mileage (140k some times!). I know the easy answer is "buy another car!" but this one has to last me for a while!

Mines on 125000 miles with a big turbo kit for the last 9000. I recently changed the cam belt , water pump ( for a metal one ) and oil pump.
So if its serviced reguly you'll be ok , but this depends on how you drive it.

The engine should never die really. It's not just going to stop one day and never work again. Parts will fail and you can replace them. The problem is when the cost of parts starts to exceed the cost of the car. At that stage you could continue to replace them or at worst buy a new engine etc.

I wouldn't worry so much that your engine has a life span.

Cheers for the replies.

I know engines can keep running for years but they do get a bit "leggy" after a while and you can tell they have been to the moon and back. I do know that there are some engines you would not relish to prospect of running well into their second 100k but hopefully not the 1.8 20V T.

i have heard that the lc/lcr will run up to 300k miles,( under audi testing) but i bet that is 4 turbos later and nearly evey part change at least 2..
but i would think 200k........... thats my opinon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
do some web searchs loads comes up!

cheers
