just found this forum, so hello to everyone,

Quick question, i can hear my engine pinking a little when its below 3000rpm, would any one know if the leon has a anti knock sensor and if so could this be the problem or any other suggestions, also would any one know how much seat charge to plug the car in for diagnostics? thanks

Yes - it has Knock sensors

but...

What fuel are you using? Is it likely to be just this tank of fuel that you've had pinking with?

Is the car remapped?

Thanks for the quick reply, the car is fairly new to me, ive filled it about 4 times with premium unleaded, as far as mapping goes if this is a type of performance trick then i very much doubt it as the car has a 2 lady owner history.By the way its a 1.6s leon. cheers

OK - it shouldn't be pinking then - it's rare for a Normally aspirated car to have the issues a Turbo'd one has.

However... if you're putting good fuel in there, then it shouldn't pink. perhaps the knock sensors are not working right. or the ECU has adapted incorrectly.

I'd try an ECU reset.. which either involves a reset using diagnostics or just disconnect the battery for 20 mins :)

peeeeeek, is there anything else strange that might happen disconnecting the battery for 20 mins, when i was looking to buy a leon, i tried one out that ran like a tank, the guy told me it was because he had put a new battery in and the car needed plugging in to reset it, is this true or a load of **** thanks again

Load of ******

Battery was frequently disconnected on mine whn i was doing work on it, or re-setting the central locking after it went beserk! - just have your radio code to hand and all will be fine!!

Thanks guys, i'll give it ago at the weekend, good here isn't it:)

I disconnected the battery for about 3/4 of an hour reconnected it then started the car, moved it across the road and turned it off, when i started it again the emissions light is on the one that looks like an engine, could this be because i didn't let the engine reach is normal temperature after resetting the ECU, been driving it about a bit and the light is still on, ohh yeah and it is still pinking:cry:
Any ideas????

maybe plugging it in might tell me about the pinking but why has this light come on just from unplugging the battery??

Did you ever get to the bottom of the pinking issue.
I have noticed the wife's 1.6 16v pinks at low revs
Have not tried disconnecting the battery etc yet
