Hi all,

I've been wracking my head for the past few days. I have a 1.2 59 plate Seat Ibiza, which up until now has been a dream, now a nightmare.

Last week, I had a timing chain fault issue and took it to a garage whom kinda took the..... quoting me £600 to change the timing chain. I found another garage who were then charging £380, I then was about to take my car there and the engine had seized.

Upon inspection the mechanic found a piece of metal (can't post the picture yet) that looks like a piston ring housing (apparently).

The mechanic is just advising to get a 2nd hand engine, is this the only option? The car has only done 56k.

Please help!

Thanks

Craig

Has anything pierced the block?
What did they tell you it needs? New pistons, valves etc or a complete rebuild?
If it needs a complete rebuild it's gonna be cheaper to get a 2nd hand engine.

They haven't actually said anything in that regard. All they said is if they open it up and start replacing parts its likely to be more expensive. For some reason I can't post pictures but I'm trying to figure out what the part that is broken off.

you can only post a picture when you have 20 posts.

if you want send me a pm with the link and I will post it.
