Hi all,

Had a search for this but could not find a definate answer.

I picked up my new Leon Cupra last saturday and have noticed a sort of grinding noise that lasts about a second or so every time I start the car. Is this normal? Should I be worried about it?

Sorry if this has been answered many times before.

Cheers

Adam

wouldnt worry much, as long it goes away a second later. The 1.8T tend to sound like diesel once they fire up.

That is exactly what it sounds like. Might ask the dealer anyway when it goes in to get the number plate straightened. Cheers for your help.

hi i have the exact same problem but wouldnt really say it sounds like a diesel?ive found it does it alot worse when cold and not to loud when hot. its a tad embarrasing!lol
any help please?

dont worry its only the timing chain tensioner, takes a second or two until it fills up with oil,so the noise u hear is the timing chain running loose for a split second.the 1.8t has a timing belt, but other cam is driven by a chain.later 1.8t with vvt only seem to suffer this
