i had this problem with my punto and i think it started happening as i hit a bit of standing water, apparently there was some import and electricals in a stupid place, and considering this weather recently that might? have something to do with it, it sorted its self out when it dried out, i kept mine in my garage for a few days? hope this may help

Is everything else ignition controlled on or still working too, gauges, electric Windows etc
Or is it just purely the engine running on with the key removed, but all other ignition control stuff ie electric Windows etc is off ?

You could try ringing stockton halfords, ask for Darren, and ask him about the leon that wouldn't turn off when the key was out the ignition, see if he can remember what the issue was.

My old Pug 306 did this, but then stopped and never did it again but I believe it was related to water getting in the electrics.

I'm pleased to say It's sorted, turns out it was a faulty relay, thanks for the help guys, I have to say I'm really impressed that the problem was found :)

Sorry to bring this thread back up.
My FR Diesel has started running on with the key removed.
Not all the time but does it a couple of times a week.
What relay did you change ?
