hi, i have an ibiza with 1.6 litre engine and i want to improve the engine performance and i was considering a turbo so the main question is what are the things that have to go with the turbo kit so that i make it better in acceleration and not giving the engine a hard time, thanks:confused::whistle::happy::

Wow, another 1.6!

There's a thread about supercharging a 1.8 GTi kicking about but i think financial difficulties have stopped that project in its tracks. I would think the general recomendation would be to get a 2.0 Cupra and be done with it.

there's not alot you could do to a 1.6 engine although from what i've heard supercharging would probably be easier than turbo charging. If you want to make the 1.6 better lighten the vehicle as much as possible and sort the handling out, this way you'll gain some acceleration and be able to take the corners faster making the car 'feel' quicker

yeah, dat would be nice but the prob is that the insurance won't cover me if i'd have a 2.0 and if i'd push myself it can cover me but it would cost me like hell. But i don't know i guess it would become too much in fuel consumption. :S

this was what I did to my 1.6

lol, coz if so there is a seat gti engine, by swapping that the difference would be that big?

hmmmmm.... but by supercharging would it give good enough performance as that of a turbo?

Supercharger will take some power from the crank but you won't have to wait for boost as you would with a turbo.

This supercharger takes 900bhp away from the crankshaft

But running at 50psi it still helps the 8.2 V8 to make 8,000bhp

...point is, don't go thinking a turbo is better than a supercharger

I'm saving for my supercharger conversion. I always thought that turbo cars may well develop more power but supercharged cars are more drivable and the power more usable. Some of the 20vT guys may disagree! :p
