Engine warning light/idle speeds

Can anybody help?

I have a 2003 Seat Ibiza 1.2. First car and I love it! just having a bit of a problem at the moment, and wonder if anybody has had a simular problem/solution to it.

Engine is running low idle speeds periodically (550-750 rpm), sometimes stalls at idle and when power is applied from a standstill (like accelerating from a roundabout), and can judder at low revs (i.e. it feels like it is stalling and then sort of bump starting itself at low revs when driving). This can happen when the engine is cold or warm, and the engine management light has just come on. Mileage - 43000.

Any help at all would be appreciated!

I think you may have had a coil pack failure, and the misfire is throwing fault codes, putting on the EML.

Shouldn't be too expensive to fix, I think a new coil pack is approx £30 from the dealer.

I've had the same!! 2 coil packs went and aa charged me 50 quid each!!! Grrrrr just bought 2 more to be safe and they were 29 quid each. Also bought new plugs aswell as these can be a prob too if not been changed recently. Hope this helps, oh and a fuse will blow in the fuse box on the side of the dash facing the drivers door , just pull it off .

Had a really bad misfire on my journey today, called the RAC out and it was the coil packs, such a common problem that the RAC carry spares in their vans!

Cylinders 1&3 had the problem, go I got them both changed there and then! £35 a peice for genuine parts and the fitting done too, not too shabby.

Dam AA charged me 50 quid each!!! I lost numbers 1 and 4. I now replaced 2and3 aswell. Got them for 29 quid each. Also change all the plugs!! As if they have worn they can make the coil overheat and melt down aswell. Hope this helps. My plugs were 4 years old.
